KICKBOXING CLASSES

Kickboxing combines different elements of boxing with kicking techniques from martial arts such as karate and Muay Thai. The aim of the game is to use punches, kicks, knee strikes and elbow strikes to attack and defend against opponents.

What Kickboxing Classes Can You Join?

So you’re thinking about joining our Kickboxing classes, right? You've come to the best place.

Coach Owen King is a four-time Kickboxing World Champion. He has dedicated decades to training students, guiding them to remarkable success in their sport.

But don't let that intimidate you because everyone is welcome to join our martial arts gym in Nottingham. Whether you're a complete beginner or experienced in the sport.

All our Kickboxing classes are split into 5 individual classes. That way, you'll always find a session to fit your skill level and goals.

Here are the 5 weekly classes:

  • Kids and Adult classes - Great for children and parents wanting to learn kickboxing together.

  • Kickboxing classes - These classes are for adults, both men and women, wanting to learn the art of kickboxing.

  • Beginners Kickboxing classes - For beginners that are new to the sport and want to learn the basic kickboxing fundamentals.

  • Kicking & Flexibility classes - Aimed at the students that want to improve their kicking range and flexibility

  • Point Sparring classes -  Point sparring is less about brute force and more about strategy and skill. Improve your speed, timing and overall skill.

You will take part in the same warm-up exercise as everyone else before partnering up with another student.

But If it’s your first time kickboxing…

You’ll partner up with Owen as he teaches you the basic fundamentals such as stance, footwork, and kicks.

The basic premise of kickboxing includes these examples below:

  • Striking - Learn punches, kicks, knee strikes, and elbow strikes with gloves and pads.

  • Guard - Develop guards and manoeuvres to block and counter opponent attacks effectively.

  • Movement - Improve movement and evasion skills through drills.

What Should I Wear For Boxing?

For kickboxing classes, it’s important to wear comfy, baggy trousers, joggers or shorts. Women can wear leggings and need a supportive sports bra.

Make sure there are no zips or unnecessary buttons on any item for safety reasons. Tie back long hair and bring a water bottle to keep hydrated – you’re going to need it.

If you have your own gloves or hand wraps, please bring them along, but if you don’t, you can borrow ours.
